Check to see if your city has a SCORE (Service Corps Of Retired Executives) chapter and see if they can advise you . These are retired business owners and they can advise you on what to do and not to do when asking for federal funding.
Go to bank manager and explain your situation. He’ll love your solid business plan and good credit.
